January Luncheon
January 21st, 2009
Editor will have a NL ready to mail out and post here before the end of the month. In the meantime, here’s a report from Pat R on the January Luncheon: (Thank you, Pat!)
We held our monthly luncheon yesterday, January 20, 2009! It just happened to be Inauguration Day!
We enjoyed seeing each other and sharing our snow and ice stories! Salem went through a terrific ice storm. Mary T lost electricity for 7 days.
Those attending the luncheon were: Rick J, Richard S, Jean F, Dorothy L, Pat R, Mary T, June S, and visitor, Lou Davis. The food was good and the company, even better!
It was decided (after a lengthy discussion) that OR-LoW men make great desserts! We intend to ask Leo and Richard for their recipes!
Dorothy L told us about some activities to celebrate Oregon’s 150th anniversary of Statehood:
On Saturday, February 14th, 2009, there will be a formal ball in Salem. The attendees can wear formal or historical attire. Other activities can be found on the Champoeg State Park website: www.Champoeg.org.
The Champoeg State Heritage Area can be reached at 503-678-1251 x 225. or the Friends of Historic Champoeg’s phone number is 503-678-1649.
Rick J has added some pictures to his neat photography website: http://rljphoto.smugmug.com.
We learned that David C has been in the hospital for several weeks. We all signed a card for him!
Our next luncheon will be held on Tuesday, February 17th, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Country Cottage in Woodburn. We are each going to call one new person from the list to encourage them to come to the luncheon.
In closing, Richard told us that the temperature in Brookings, OR was in the 70’s recently!!!!
(Editor’s note: It’s been in the 80’s in SoCal recently!!!)
