HEY THERE!
The first camp-out (C/O) of the 2008 Season is approaching. To give you a better idea of some of our previous C/O’s click on Campouts under the Categories heading at the upper right-hand corner of this Home Page.
Vernonia is a GREAT place for a first camp-out to get to know us. Anderson Park has full hook-ups and is within walking distance of the quaint, little town. There is also a paved hiking/biking trail that begins at the park and continues as far as Banks. It meanders past (or around) the pond where the mill used to be. Lots of birding also possible in this area…. ospreys, red wing black birds and many more.
The usual Potluck will be held on Wednesday evening. If you’re interested in attending this C/O, please advise us on our “Contact Us” page.
By the way, you may attend two C/O’s before deciding whether you want to join Loners on Wheels.

An “Unofficial” and out-of season C/O was held at the coast April 16 - 18. There was another small group that met at the Beaverton Hometown Buffet for lunch at the published time on April 15th. More details on both can be viewed in the May newsletter on that page.
Most of our group who were”snow-birding” in the southwest (and other warm climes) have returned — or are on their way. It is now almost time for our first official C/O of the 2008 season. Details and directions are published on the “Scheduled C/O’s” page. We’re hoping to see as many of you as possible at Vernonia!

We’d love to have you join us at our next camp-out just to meet us and see what we’re about. Check the “Scheduled C/O’s” page for the remaining dates and places, plus specific details and directions.
Our next outing is September 20th, 21st and 22nd at Anderson Park in Vernonia, OR. That particular park has water and electric hook-ups and a dump station. “All the comforts of home” for those who don’t like to “boondock.” There are also wonderful hiking/biking trails. The trailhead is there for the Banks/Vernonia 3.5 mile designated trail. It’s also just a short walk into the quaint little town of Vernonia. There are also some links on the right hand side of this page for more detailed information.
If you can’t come for the entire camp-out, why not come out for our social hour at 3:30 and/or our Friday potluck at 5:30 just to meet us. We’ll be looking for you!
Or leave your email and address on the “Contact Us” page and we’ll send you our latest newsletter along with some additional information about Loners on Wheels, and specifically our OR-LoW chapter.

Our huckleberry trip was wonderful. There were tons of berries, the weather was perfect for picking, we got some really good exercise (an accident….great white guide got us sort of lost)……but met a really nice man who Anna and Pat flagged down and talked into hauling them around to find my car. We rewarded him greatly with “man getter cookies” and fresh baked apple crisp. We also gave him all the scoop about OR-LoW’s. What fun! We ate dinner at a Chinese buffet in Troutdale, and parted company on Barnes Rd. Oh yes, the dogs had a ball. The puppy slept all the way home.
